MyTastr exists to answer one question honestly: what’s the best product? That only works if you can trust the answer, so here’s exactly how this place pays for itself — and what money can never touch.
The rankings come first
Every ranking is built the same way: from public, attributed recommendations by named chefs, cookbook authors and food experts, each linked to its source. We choose the picks and their order before we ever think about where to buy them. Whether a product has a shopping link — or pays us anything at all — plays no part in whether it makes the list or where it lands.
We may earn a commission
Each pick has a “Where to buy” link. Some of those links go to retailers or brands, and when you buy through them we may earn a small commission at no extra cost to you. For now, many of these links are plain store searches (on Amazon or Instacart, for example) that earn us nothing; over time some may become affiliate links. Either way they’re marked “Where to buy” and tagged as sponsored links for search engines.
Rankings are never for sale.
- No paid placement. Brands can’t pay to be included, to move up, or to keep a competitor off the list.
- No free-product deals. We don’t rank products in exchange for samples, gifts or ad buys.
- Commerce follows the pick. If the best product has no affiliate program, it stays on top and we link to wherever you can buy it.
- Anything else will be labeled. If we ever run a sponsorship or newsletter ad, it’ll be clearly marked and kept outside the rankings.
Our tasters didn’t sign up for this
The chefs and food experts we quote are cited from public interviews, articles and panels. They haven’t endorsed MyTastr, aren’t paid by us, and don’t receive any share of commissions. We don’t invent or edit their quotes — every one links back to where it was said.
Product disclosures
Sometimes a recommendation comes with a tie worth knowing about: a paid partnership, a taster’s own shop, a friend’s brand. We flag those right on the card. Here’s the current list:
